The Office of Statewide Accounting Services is responsible for maintaining and operating a centralized statewide accounting system for state government. The Office also performs financial recordkeeping functions and reports on the Commonwealth's financial condition.
Centralized accounting for all state government transactions ensures consistency in the recording and classification of receipts and expenditures, and provides the Judicial, Executive and Legislative branches the means of exercising supervision, control and allocation of the Commonwealth's financial resources. In addition, the Office produces and distributes the Commonwealth of Kentucky Comprehensive Annual Financial Report in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles for state and local governments.
