Division of Postal Services
The Division of Postal Services' mission is to provide efficient and effective mail services to agencies within state government. This mission is supported by the following goals:
- Provide staff with continued educational opportunities to keep abreast of the latest postal changes and regulations.
- Provide seminars to educate agency personnel (our customers) about proper mail preparation including address style and format.
- Use technology to maximize postal discounts.
- Reduce the average cost per piece of outgoing mail.
- Reduce the time required for a piece of incoming mail to reach its final destination.
Mailroom Hours: Core hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. except for official state holidays. Due to the nature of our work, staff is often available prior to 8:00 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m. If a special need arises, give us a call.
Departmental Billings: Metered postage charges are recharged to departments on a monthly basis.
Pick-up and Delivery: The Division of Postal Services provides daily pickups and deliveries for the Commonwealth of Kentucky's official mail (letters, packages, messenger mail), to various cabinets and agencies. Pickup and delivery services are provided at least twice daily to all locations, and special runs are available upon request.
Delivery to the United States Postal Service: All outgoing mail received by the Division of Postal Services is delivered to the Frankfort Post Office or our presort contractor the same day as it is metered. Exceptions to this policy may occur due to volume, staffing or postal equipment breakdowns.
