Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
The purpose of the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. The Board examines and licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The Board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 334A.
Please be advised that effective immediately THE IDENTIFICATION CARDS WILL NO LONGER HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE. YOUR ID CARD WILL BE VALID UNTIL YOU DECIDE TO NO LONGER RENEW YOUR LICENSE.
IF YOU NEED TO REQUEST A DUPLICATE ID CARD PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST TO THE SLP/A BOARD PO BOX 1360 FRANKFORT KY 40602. A PAYMENT AMOUNT OF $10.00 WILL BE REQUIRED.
Changes during the 2008 Legislative Session (HB29) require biennial renewal. The revised renewal forms should be used for audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech-language pathology assistants. Online renewals will not be available for this renewal cycle.
ATTENTION ALL LICENSEES:
If you are RENEWING your license during the GRACE PERIOD, it is the intent of the board that you may continue working. However, your license does expire on January 31 and will remain expired until all fees and proper application has been received. If you are AUDITED and are renewing during the grace period, please remember that the board only meets once a month and if you do not have all documentation in at least 10 days prior to the board meeting, your file may not be brought in front of the board, and you may have to wait another month for review. Please remember that the Kentucky Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology DOES NOT have authority over employers who mandate an active license to practice.

Please be aware that it is your responsibility to keep the board notified of any address or name changes. Failure to do so may result in delays in the licensing process.
