The purpose of the Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. The Board examines and certifies all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of Alcohol and Drug Counseling. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The Board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 309.080 to 309.089.

2009 Board Meeting Dates

The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month (see below for specific dates). Meeting dates/times are subject to change/cancellations.  Please refer to the site for changes in the calendar.  All meetings are held at the Division of Occupations and Professions, 911 Leawood Drive, Frankfort KY at 10:00 a.m.

Following board meetings please allow up to two weeks for follow-up correspondence.  If you haven’t received written correspondence from the Board after two weeks after the meeting feel free to call.

Application results will not be given over the phone.

Exam Dates

Beginning June 2008 the Board will no longer require the Oral Exam.  New applicants will take the new comprehensive IC&RC exam.  If you are currently in the application process and successfully complete the written exam, you may either take the Oral Exam or you may take the New Comprehensive exam. Beginning January 1, 2009 every applicant will be required to take the New Comprehensive Exam.
