The Finance and Administration Cabinet is proud to host Kentucky’s first Minority and Women Business Enterprise Certification Program. The goal of the certification program is to encourage growth among Kentucky businesses owned by women and minorities and to assist those enterprises in locating and obtaining further commercial opportunities.
Based on recommendations from the IT Assessment, the IT Infrastructure Initiative is underway. This includes consolidating IT infrastructure services under a Chief Information Officer. By implementing this plan, the Commonwealth will save money, reduce system and security risks, and be positioned to take advantage of emerging technologies and sourcing alternatives.
The objective of the Small Business Connection program is to help link Kentucky's small businesses with buyers from government agencies and large businesses. Small Business Connection is a joint effort of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Finance & Administration Cabinet.
The mission of the Green Bank of Kentucky is to promote energy efficiency in state buildings through competition for low interest loans to reduce operating costs, energy use, protect the environment, save taxpayer dollars, promote economic development, and create new “green collar” jobs by means of education, engineering analyses and building improvements.
The Capitol Education Center is a new, “green” learning facility located adjacent to the State Capitol Building and is open and welcome to all visitors, especially students and teachers. The Center features an energy efficient design with a rooftop garden and is outfitted with interactive exhibits about sustainability, Kentucky government, history and more.
The newly created Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Certification Program supports service-disabled military veterans who own a business and live in Kentucky. It is designed to promote growth among SDVOSBs and encourage these businesses to locate and expand in the Commonwealth.
